Shockwaves are high energy acoustic waves that are directed into injured tissues with subacute, subchronic and chronic conditions. This energy wave promotes regeneration and reparative processes in muscles, ligaments, and tendons. The acoustic waves interact with bodily tissues to reduce pain, increase blood flow in surrounding tissues, stimulate collagen formation and healing, dissolve calcifications in soft tissues, and help restore mobility and function.
Shockwave therapy has been shown to be effective for a multitude of conditions, including (but not limited to):
- Lateral epicondylalgia (tennis elbow)
- Medial epicondylalgia (golfers elbow)
- Patellar tendinopathy (jumper’s knee)
- Shoulder tendinitis and tendinopathies
- Calcific tendinitis
- Achilles’ tendinitis and tendinopathies
- Plantar fasciitis
- Myofascial trigger points
- Hallux rigidus (stiff big toe)
- Bursitis
- Greater trochanteric pain syndrome
- Heel spurs
- Trigger finger
